Imagining Relief Website Proposal – 7/13/26

Thanks for completing the requirements survey. With any new company, there are a lot of discoveries that cause the scope of any new website to expand. So while we will begin with a simple group of pages, we will plan for growth and the ability for the organization to own and update the site with an internal team. This proposal is for the basic build of the site, but not the ongoing maintenance and growth of the content.

Given your requirements (landing, about, donation, updates/blog with text+images+video), a self-hosted WordPress is the strongest fit.

Reasons:

  • Internal Content team can manage the “updates” themselves. Small nonprofits don’t usually have a developer on staff — someone can log in and post new articles with photos or an embedded video without touching code. WordPress’s editor handles that natively.
  • Donation page is solved with plugins, not custom code. Options, roughly in order of simplicity:
    • Embed a widget from Donorbox or GiveButter (free/low-cost, handles compliance, receipts, recurring donations — just paste an embed code into a WordPress page)
    • Use the Give plugin if they need donations fully native to the WordPress site
  • Hosting – DIY or Brand67 can provide: WordPress runs on any standard LAMP/LEMP stack (Apache/Nginx + PHP + MySQL) — no special hosting requirements beyond what most hosts offer out of the box.
  • Themes exist specifically for nonprofits (Astra, GeneratePress, or dedicated ones like “Charity” themes) that already have donate buttons, impact stats, and blog layouts built in.
  • Video: don’t self-host video files (bandwidth/storage gets expensive fast on basic hosting) — embed YouTube or Vimeo instead, which WordPress handles natively via oEmbed.
Scope & Cost
  • Initial build – 10 hrs. – $2000
  • Populate content, make updates – 6 hrs – $1200
  • Deploy and handoff for maintenance and further updating by client – 2 hrs – $400
  • Total – $3600

Build notes:

  • Landing: hero + CTA, three quick-nav cards, one teaser from the updates feed so it doesn’t feel like a dead end.
  • About: this is where the founder/Po story and the Sangha-network narrative you shared belongs — it’s compelling and specific, and it’s the natural place to build trust for a newly-formed org. The EIN/501(c)(3) line at the bottom is worth keeping visible here, not just in the footer.
  • Donate: preset amounts + custom + one-time/monthly toggle is standard Donorbox/Give behavior. I’d keep the amplification blurb short and specific about funding source, since that’s the detail a skeptical donor will look for first.
  • Updates: standard blog/CMS layout — featured post up top (good place for a video), grid of posts below. WordPress’s native post editor handles this structure without any custom template work.
